Bhopal: The case of 33-year-old model and actress Twisha Sharma took a significant turn on Monday when a local court denied anticipatory bail to her husband, Samarth Singh, who is currently evading arrest.

In light of the court's ruling, the Bhopal Police announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his capture.

Twisha was discovered hanging in her home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12, just months after her marriage to Samarth in December 2025, whom she met through a dating app in 2024.

As a Special Investigation Team (SIT) delves into the circumstances surrounding her death, her family accuses Samarth of subjecting her to torture and ultimately murder over dowry disputes.

During the tense court proceedings, Samarth's lawyer raised concerns about Twisha's mental health, a claim that was met with strong opposition from the family’s legal representative, who highlighted the potential for evidence tampering.

After considering the arguments, Sessions Court Judge Pallavi Dwivedi rejected Samarth's bail request.

Previously, the court had granted anticipatory bail to Twisha's mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, who is also implicated in the case, but denied similar relief to Samarth.

In response to the court's decision, Twisha's father, Navnidhi Sharma, expressed that this was merely a step towards justice, insisting that both the husband and the retired judge must be held accountable.

He voiced concerns that the influential family might leverage their resources to evade justice if not detained immediately.

The legal situation escalated further as details from Samarth's bail application emerged on social media, alleging that Twisha had a history of psychiatric issues and drug addiction, claims her family vehemently disputes.

To counter the dowry accusations, the retired judge presented online transaction records ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000, asserting they regularly supported Twisha financially.

However, Twisha's family dismissed these claims, asserting that she was a vibrant individual who changed drastically after marriage, losing significant weight due to ongoing mental distress.

Her cousin, Meenakshi, revealed to various media outlets that the harassment intensified when Twisha lost her remote job and became pregnant, with Samarth refusing to acknowledge the child.

The local investigation has faced intense scrutiny, as Misrod Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Rajneesh Kashyap, who leads the SIT, confirmed that while the preliminary post-mortem from AIIMS Bhopal suggests a 'hanging suicide,' Twisha's family insists that the presence of multiple injuries indicates foul play.

In an acknowledgment of shortcomings in the local investigation, ACP Kashyap admitted that the investigating officer failed to submit the rope allegedly used in the hanging for examination during the autopsy, promising action against the officer.

He emphasized that the SIT is rigorously investigating the case based on dowry and abetment allegations in the FIR, irrespective of the husband's assertions.

On Sunday, Twisha's family organized a significant protest outside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav's residence in Bhopal.

Highlighting that Twisha's body has remained in a mortuary for five days, her father demanded the cessation of the compromised local investigation and called for an independent post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi.

Navnidhi Sharma also requested that the investigation be transferred outside Madhya Pradesh.

According to Twisha's relatives, she had expressed a desire to leave Bhopal and return to her family home in Noida, maintaining contact with them until around 10 PM on the day she died.
