US Air Force Planes Crash: The air show organized on Sunday at Mountain Home Air Force Base in the US state of Idaho turned into chaos when two American fighter planes performing stunts in the air collided with each other.

This accident happened during the “Gunfighter Skies Air Show”, after which the entire air base was immediately locked down. After the incident, black smoke spread far into the sky and emergency teams reached the spot.

According to local media reports, the accident happened around 12:30 pm on Sunday. Both the aircraft involved in the collision were EA-18G Growler fighter jets. It was told that after the collision, both the planes crashed about two miles away from the air base.

How did the planes collide with each other?

In the video going viral on social media, it can be seen that both the fighter jets came very close in the air and then suddenly collided with each other. After the collision, the aircraft was seen breaking into different parts. After a few seconds, four parachutes were seen opening in the sky, due to which people were relieved that the crew members on board the plane were successful in getting out in time.

According to the report of the Idaho Statesman, the officials present at the air show immediately informed the spectators that all four crew members present in both the planes had ejected safely. Later, the US Navy also confirmed this and said that all four military personnel involved in the accident are safe.

Mountain Home Air Force Base administration said that after the incident, relief and rescue teams immediately reached the spot. “Emergency responders are at the scene. An investigation into the accident has been launched and new information will be shared as it emerges,” a base spokesperson told Reuters.

Immediately after the accident, all other programs scheduled for Sunday were cancelled. Mountain Home police also confirmed that the entire air base was put on lockdown due to security reasons.

The show happened after 8 years?

Gunfighter Skies Air Show was organized again this year after a long gap of eight years. Thousands of people had come to see this air show. Aerial displays and stunts of military aircraft were being organized here. Organizers said that preparations for this program were going on for the last two years. Security teams, technical experts and maintenance crews were deployed at the air base during the entire event.

After this accident, old accidents to Mountain Home Air Show have once again come into discussion. In 2018, during an event organized at the same air base, a hang glider pilot died after crashing on the runway.

Apart from this, in the year 2003 also, a jet of Thunderbirds team had crashed during the air show organized in Mountain Home. However, at that time the pilot had saved his life by exiting the plane a few seconds before the collision.
