In a major relief for Aadhaar holders across India, Unique Identification Authority of India has officially extended the deadline for free Aadhaar updates by one more year. Citizens can now update their Aadhaar details online without paying any fee until June 14, 2027.
Earlier, the free update facility was scheduled to end on June 15, 2026. However, UIDAI has now extended the benefit through an official memorandum.
Where Can You Update Aadhaar for Free?The free Aadhaar update facility will be available only through the official myAadhaar Portal.
Users can update details such as:
- Address
- Mobile number
- Name corrections
- Other demographic information
No fee will be charged if these updates are completed online through the portal before the new deadline.
mAadhaar App to Be Discontinued SoonUIDAI has also announced that the older mAadhaar app will soon be shut down. Users will be required to shift to the new Aadhaar App, which will include several upgraded privacy and security features.

The update fee depends on the type of correction or modification being made.
Biometric UpdatesCertain biometric updates remain free in specific age groups:
- First biometric update between ages 5–7: Free
- First or second biometric update between ages 15–17: Free
- Biometric updates for children aged 7–15: Free till September 30, 2026
For other biometric updates involving:
- Fingerprints
- Iris scan
- Photograph
Users may need to pay ₹125.
Charges for Demographic UpdatesIf demographic details like:
- Name
- Gender
- Date of birth
- Address
- Mobile number
- Email ID
are updated separately at Aadhaar centres, users will have to pay ₹75.
However, the same updates remain free online through the myAadhaar portal until June 14, 2027.
