Gurnoor Brar’s rise in domestic cricket

Punjab-born Gurnoor Singh Brar has gradually emerged as one of the most promising fast bowlers in Indian domestic cricket. He made his first-class debut in 2022, while making his IPL debut with Punjab Kings in 2023.

The 2024–25 domestic season proved to be a turning point in his career. Brar was the leading wicket-taker for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy; He took 26 wickets in seven matches with tremendous consistency and discipline.

Strong relationship with Shubman Gill

Brar also talked about his long-standing relationship with Indian captain Shubman Gill. Their association has been going on since the days of junior cricket in Punjab.

Gill helped him a lot in moving forward. He revealed that he has been bowling to Gill since his Under-19 days, and later helped him join the Punjab Under-23 team.

Memorable performance in Ranji Trophy

One of Gurnoor’s finest performances came against Bihar, where he took an impressive 5/14 and played a key role in Punjab’s emphatic win.

From net bowler to place in Indian team

Before turning to professional cricket, Brar served as a net bowler for Mumbai Indians during the 2019 IPL season.

Later, he made his List A debut against Goa in 2022 and his first-class debut against Railways in the same year.

In a 2023 Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir, he played a crucial inning of 64 runs and shared a match-winning 100-run partnership with Siddharth Kaul, leading Punjab to a memorable four-wicket win.
