Mumbai, May 18: Lenovo has introduced the AMD version of the ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 laptop for European markets, shortly after the launch of the ThinkPad P14s Gen 7. This new mobile workstation features updated AMD Ryzen AI Pro processors, LPCAMM2 memory, optional NVIDIA RTX Blackwell graphics, and a larger 90Wh battery option, starting at AU$2,979.
The ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 AMD model offers a choice of AMD’s latest Ryzen AI Pro processors, including the Ryzen AI 5 Pro 440, Ryzen AI 7 Pro 450, and the high-end Ryzen AI 9 HX Pro 470 chip, which boasts 12 cores and 24 threads, with boost speeds reaching up to 5.2GHz.
For graphics, the laptop comes with integrated AMD Radeon graphics by default, but users can opt for discrete NVIDIA RTX Pro Blackwell GPUs, including the RTX Pro 1000 and RTX Pro 2000 Laptop GPUs with 8GB GDDR7 memory.
A significant upgrade in this model is the LPCAMM2 memory, which ranges from 16GB to 96GB LPDDR5X memory, running at LPDDR5X-7500 speeds due to platform limitations.
The ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 AMD offers three 16-inch display options: the entry-level model features a WUXGA IPS panel with 400 nits brightness, while a higher-end version adds touch support and 500 nits brightness. The top configuration boasts a 16-inch OLED display with a 2880 x 1800 resolution, 500 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision support, and a variable refresh rate from 30Hz to 120Hz.
Storage options go up to a 512GB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, and battery choices include a standard 60Wh pack or an optional 90Wh battery with Rapid Charge technology.
Additional features include a 5MP webcam with an optional IR camera, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 7 support, dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, and an SD Express 7.0 card reader.
In terms of design, the ThinkPad P16s Gen 5 AMD measures 23.3mm at its thickest point and weighs starting at 1.75kg, featuring an aluminium top cover and a PC-ABS bottom chassis, along with Lenovo’s signature TrackPoint navigation system and spill-resistant keyboard.
