This highway is being built by the central government. According to the report, after the highway is fully operational, people will be able to complete the journey from Ambala to Chandigarh in about 40-50 minutes. Till now, people on this route had to face a lot of trouble due to heavy traffic and old highway. Long traffic jams had become common especially during office hours.

Some part of this road still remains to be built. For this, a new notification for land acquisition was issued in Derabassi area of ​​Mohali. This land will be used to build a road of 5 to 25 kilometers. It is being claimed in the reports that the government aims to complete this project by the end of this year.
