Prince William has used an online alias to discuss his beloved Aston Villa with football fans. The Prince of Wales will be hoping Unai Emery's side can secure victory against German club Freiburg in the Europa League final tonight.
The 43-year-old has spoken publicly about his love for the West Midlands club on numerous occasions. The future monarch was in attendance at Villa Park as Villa triumphed 4-0 against Nottingham Forest to seal their place in the final. Prince William cheeredfrom the stands and being overcome with joy as the team moved a step closer to ending their 30-year wait for a major trophy. Much like other Villa fans, the royal will have spent days thinking about the upcoming Freiburg clash and has reportedly confessed to using a fake name to discuss the club on fan forums in the past.
His Villa support dates back to an FA Cup semi-final in 2000 when Villa emerged victorious against Bolton Wanderers. It was claimed last year that the Prince of Wales uses a "different name" online after surprising fans with his "vast knowledge".
In January 2025, William travelled to Birmingham and encountered supporters in a Wetherspoons pub at Grand Central Station. Enjoying a Bulmers, the 43-year-old spent half an hour discussing the team with fans ahead of Villa's clash against Everton.

Steve Jones, a Villa supporter for 35 years, disclosed that the Prince of Wales "keeps abreast of Villa gossip because he is on all the fans' forums". He added: "He goes under different names and he posts on there because that's how he gets the feeling of what's going on and what's the opinion.
"He had a vast knowledge of Villa. We brought up a couple of topics and he was very eloquent." Jones said: "He didn't have to look up to his aides, he knew everything. We spoke about the recent West Ham game and the changes [Unai] Emery made in the second half."
In an interview with the Athletic, Jones continued: "He started talking about double pivots and how Emery moved Youri Tielemans' position. We were like 'What?'" He was talking about possible transfers, who might leave and who might come.
"We spoke about PSR (profit and sustainability rules) and Chelsea selling their women's team. He admitted he would love to have more opinions on certain things within the game but he can't in his role as president of the FA."
