England Women's captain Nat Sciver-Brunt is in a bit of a race against the clock to recover in time for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, which is set to take place in England this June. She's currently dealing with a calf tear that has unfortunately sidelined her from the T20I series against New Zealand and India.

The injury occurred while she was playing for her domestic team, The Blaze, in a match against Warwickshire on April 29. The ECB announced on Tuesday that she will need a longer rehabilitation period to heal properly. Sciver-Brunt had already missed the previous ODI series, which ended in a 1-1 draw, with the second match being washed out due to rain.

In her absence, Charlie Dean is expected to step up and lead the team, just as she did during the ODI series against the White Ferns. According to the BBC, England isn't overly worried about their star all-rounder's availability for the World Cup; they're just hoping she makes a full recovery in time for the big tournament at home.

Additionally, the ECB confirmed that Danni Wyatt-Hodge will also miss the series against New Zealand, as her wife is about to give birth to their first child. To cover for these two absences, England has brought in Maia Bouchier and Charis Pavely.

The series against New Zealand kicks off with the first T20I in Derby on May 20, followed by matches on May 23 in Canterbury and May 25 in Hove. The series against India is set to begin on May 28 and conclude by June 2. England will start their T20 World Cup journey against Sri Lanka on June 12.
