After running yards in the unbearable humidity of Kolkata, the KKR keeper Angrish Raghuvanshi got a mild scolding from Varun Chakravarthy after Tilak Varma's catch was dropped. The Kolkata Knight Riders need to defeat Mumbai Indians to stay alive in the playoff race for the IPL 2026. And in this situation, they are hosting Mumbai Indians in the Eden Gardens.
KKR did get a good start, getting four wickets in the first half hour. But a sudden shower halted the game for an hour. Despite that, Varun Chakravarthy got KKR a chance in the 11th over to dismiss MI's last match here, Tilak.
Varun has his own story. A hairline fracture in the toe, and he is still on the field trying to win for his team. Tilak had swung hard at the ball, which went high but reached the non-striker's end. Varun, being closer to it, went for the ball. Meanwhile, Angrish ran almost 10 yards from the keeper's position to the other end. The duo dived and clashed. Varun had still managed to get hold of the ball. But Angrish's gloves gave a little nudge to Varun's hand, and the ball spilled out.
After that, Varun was visibly frustrated. He was seen scolding Angkrish while the keeper lay down, clueless and guilty. Soon the KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane came and picked up the ball.
