Taking a major action against corruption in Mahishi area of Saharsa district of Bihar, the Special Monitoring Unit on Wednesday arrested a corrupt revenue employee and his personal associate red handed while taking bribe. After this action there was a stir in the zonal office. The arrested accused have been identified as revenue employee Shyam Prasad Singh posted in Belahi and Sirwar Veerwar Halka of Mahishi zone and his personal assistant Phoolchand Sah. Both of them are accused of demanding a bribe of Rs 16 thousand in the name of cutting the land receipt.
According to the information, illegal amount was demanded from Mohammad Hayat, resident of Manaur of Jalai police station area, in lieu of issuing receipt for the land. The accused employee and his associate had finalized the deal for Rs 16,000. Frustrated, the victim complained about this to the Special Monitoring Unit located in Patna. After receiving the complaint, the monitoring department conducted confidential verification of the case. When the allegations were found true, a special team was formed. On Wednesday, as soon as Mohammad Hayat gave Rs 16,000 laced with chemicals to the accused in the zonal office, the already present surveillance team arrested both of them on the spot. This sudden action created chaos in the office premises. It is being told that as soon as information about the action was received, many employees left the office.
Additional Director General of Police, Special Surveillance Unit, Pankaj Kumar Darad said that case number 19/2026 has been registered in the case under Section 7 of the Anti-Corruption Act and various sections of BNS 2023. Both the accused will be presented in the Special Surveillance Court in Patna on Thursday. The monitoring department has clearly said that no government employee involved in corruption will be spared and such action will continue in future also.
