Arsenal have secured the Premier League title, but they are showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market.

The North London club are reportedly working on a concrete plan to bring in a top striker from the Bundesliga to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad ahead of the new campaign.

Arteta’s side were officially crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years last night, moving four points clear of Manchester City after the latter dropped points at Bournemouth.

Despite the celebrations, Arteta is determined to keep pushing forward. The club is ready to invest heavily once again this summer, with a new centre-forward seen as a top priority.

Arsenal’s long-awaited title triumph has not silenced discussions about their attacking options. Throughout the season, the centre-forward role has been debated, with Viktor Gyokeres adjusting to life in the Premier League and Kai Havertz missing large parts of the campaign due to injury.

Gyokeres has scored 14 goals in Arsenal’s title-winning season, while Havertz has featured as a more physical attacking option, including starting in the crucial away match at Manchester City. However, reports suggest that Arsenal are exploring ways to refresh their frontline, which has sometimes struggled against defensive low blocks.

According to a report from Africa Foot, Arsenal and Barcelona are competing for the signature of Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane, as the Gunners look to further enhance a squad that has already netted 118 goals across all competitions this season.

Kofane faced Arsenal both home and away in this season’s Champions League while representing Bayer Leverkusen, where he impressed with his strength and presence against Arsenal defenders William Saliba and Gabriel.

The two clubs have maintained a good working relationship in recent years, following Granit Xhaka’s transfer to Bayer Leverkusen in 2023. Last summer, a loan deal was arranged for Piero Hincapie to join Arsenal, with an unusual option-to-buy clause allowing Leverkusen to decide whether to make the deal permanent — a decision expected to be finalised in the coming weeks.

The new report indicates that Arsenal and Barcelona are currently leading the race for Kofane ahead of other interested clubs including Newcastle United, Chelsea, Brentford, and Bayern Munich, all of whom have made initial enquiries about the 19-year-old forward.

Leverkusen had signed Kofane from Albacete last summer for just €5 million and are now expected to make a significant profit on the promising youngster.

Last night, Die Schwartzroten congratulated Arsenal on their Premier League victory with a social media post praising the club’s set-piece quality, and also sent their best wishes to former Leverkusen player Kai Havertz for winning the title with his new team.

Transfermarkt currently values Christian Kofane at around €40 million. Arsenal will travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace this Sunday, where they will officially lift the Premier League trophy to conclude the season.
