Google I/O 2026:Google and Samsung have introduced their new Gemini AI based smart glasses at the Google I/O 2026 event. These smart glasses will work on the Android XR platform and will allow users to perform many important tasks without holding the mobile phone in their hands. Companies say that the purpose of these smart glasses is to make everyday tasks easier and smarter. With the help of these glasses, users will be able to use features like calling, reading messages, navigation and live translation.
Google said that the company is working on two types of AI smart glasses. The first model is audio based, with built-in speakers. Through this, users will be able to talk to Gemini AI through voice. The second model will come with display support, in which important information will be visible directly in front of the user’s eyes.
Many tasks can be done without taking out the phone
These smart glasses can be connected with smartphones. After this, users will be able to receive calls, listen to messages and also get information about notifications without taking out the phone. According to the company, users will be able to activate Gemini AI just by saying “Hey Google” or tapping the frame of the glasses. After this, AI will understand the surrounding things and answer the questions and provide necessary information.
Real-time translation feature will be available
The most special feature of these smart glasses is real-time translation. With its help, users will be able to listen to instant translation of conversations taking place in another language. Apart from this, live translation of road signs, menus or text written on any board can also be done.
Navigation and camera features too
Turn-by-turn navigation support will also be available in smart glasses. This means that users will not have to look at the phone again and again to see the route. Along with this, these glasses will also have camera feature. Users will be able to record photos and videos by giving voice commands. Later, photo editing can also be done with the help of AI tools.
Sales will start this year
Google has informed that audio based smart glasses will be first launched in the fall season this year. The company has partnered with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker for the initial design lineup. These smart glasses will work with both Android and iPhone devices.
