China-Pakistan-made JL-8 trainer jet crashes due to technical fault in Mianwali, Pakistan. Both pilots escaped safely. This is the 7th recent plane crash, raising questions on the maintenance and quality of the planes.
Islamabad: Another aircraft accident has occurred in Mianwali district of Punjab province of Pakistan. Here a Hongdu JL-8 trainer jet on a routine training mission crashed. It is being told that this accident happened due to technical fault. This jet was made jointly by China and Pakistan. This is the 7th plane to crash in Pakistan in recent times. Just before the accident, both the pilots managed to save their lives by jumping from the jet. Its video is going viral on social media. However, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has not yet given any statement on this.

Dramatic photos and rescue of pilots
Just moments before the plane crashed, both the pilots 'ejected' and jumped with the help of parachute and narrowly escaped injury. In the video going viral on social media, the wreckage of the plane is seen burning and the pilots are seen descending by parachute in the air. The plane was completely destroyed in this accident.
China-Pak joint project
This Hongdu JL-8 jet (also known as Karakoram-8) is a joint project of China and Pakistan. Pakistan Air Force uses these aircraft extensively to provide advanced training to its pilots. But this latest accident has once again raised serious questions on the quality and maintenance of defense equipment made in China.
Long history of plane crashes
Mianwali area of Pakistan has already become witness to many air accidents. In the last two decades, incidents of frequent crashes of old model and training aircraft here have become a big headache for the Air Force.
Tragedy of January 2020
In January 2020, an 'FT-7' training aircraft crashed near Mianwali, in which both the pilots died. According to statistics, about 14 'FT-7' and other similar aircraft have crashed in the last 18 years.
August 2017 accident
In August 2017, an 'F-7' fighter jet crashed in the same area due to a technical fault. Wing Commander Mohammad Shahzad lost his life in that accident because he could not get out of the plane in time. At least ten F-7PG and FT-7 aircraft have crashed here in the last decade.
other major accidents
In 2020, during the Republic Day rehearsal in Islamabad, a state-of-the-art F-16 fighter plane of Pakistan also crashed, which made a lot of headlines.
Concern over the condition of the Air Force
Defense experts believe that the main reason for these frequent accidents in Pakistan Air Force is excessive use of old aircraft and their lack of proper maintenance. It has become a big challenge for Pakistan, which is facing financial crisis, to upgrade its fighter planes and procure spare parts for them.
After every accident, Pakistan Air Force formally forms a committee to investigate. But these investigation reports take a long time to become public, which also gives rise to allegations that the internal shortcomings of the Air Force are constantly being hidden.
