Meerut. In Uttar Pradesh, scorching heat and deadly heatwave have made life difficult for common people. As soon as the morning starts, the sun becomes so intense that it starts feeling as if balls of fire are raining directly from the sky. As the day progressed on Wednesday, the heat broke all records in Meerut district of western Uttar Pradesh. By afternoon the situation became so bad that there was complete silence in the main roads and markets of the city. People are not able to muster the courage to come out of their homes. On Wednesday, Meerut’s mercury reached a record 44 degrees Celsius, which is the hottest day recorded so far this entire season. In view of this scorching heat, the district administration has taken a very big and important decision regarding school children.
Big action by District Magistrate, schools closed for the safety of children
In view of the scorching heat and increasing dangerous effects of heat wave in Meerut, District Magistrate (DM) Dr. VK Singh has issued an emergency order for holidays in schools, keeping the health and safety of children paramount. According to this strict order issued by the district administration, a special holiday of three days has been declared from 21st May to 23rd May 2026 for the students from pre-primary to class 10 in the schools of all the boards (UP Board, CBSE, ICSE etc.) of Meerut district. The DM has clearly warned that any kind of carelessness with the health of children will not be tolerated and all government and private schools will have to strictly follow this order.
‘Nautpaa’ is starting from 25th May, summer will be more dreadful
These days, people of Western Uttar Pradesh are suffering badly due to the heat of the sun and the gusts of hot winds. As soon as eight o’clock in the morning the sun becomes so strong that even stepping out of the house starts feeling like a punishment. The concern of meteorologists and local people has increased even more because the most dreaded phase of summer i.e. ‘Nautapa’ is going to start from May 25. During Nautapa, the Sun is closest to the Earth, due to which there is severe heat continuously for nine days. In such a situation, it is feared that the mercury may go above 44 degrees in the coming days, due to which the situation will become more serious. Sensing this, the administration has already given great relief to small children from the hassle of commuting to school.
