The weather in the northern and central parts of the country is showing two different pictures. On one hand, cities like UP, Madhya Pradesh and Raipur are in the grip of heatwave, while thunderstorm and rain activities are increasing in some parts of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. According to IMD, the temperature in Jharkhand may drop by 2-3 degrees by May 26-27, while the mercury will still remain around 45°C in many cities of UP. The effect of heat wave will continue in Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Prayagraj and Banda. The Meteorological Department has advised people to drink enough water, avoid exposure to sunlight and keep an eye on weather updates. Eastern India may get some relief due to increase in pre-monsoon activity in the coming days, but the heat in North India does not seem to be decreasing at the moment.
