The release plans for Ramayana could be undergoing a major change. Amid soaring buzz around the ambitious mythological epic, a new report now suggests that the makers are considering bringing the film to theatres earlier than expected. Starring Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, the big-budget spectacle has already emerged as one of the most talked-about Bollywood projects in recent years.

According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers are now eyeing an October 30, 2026 theatrical release for Ramayana: Part One, instead of a release closer to Diwali festivities.

Makers Reportedly Exploring A Pre-Diwali Release Strategy

The report claims that producer Namit Malhotra is evaluating the possibility of releasing the film before the festive rush officially begins. The idea, reportedly, is to allow the film’s collections to surge during its second week in cinemas.

As quoted in Bollywood Hungama's report, the strategy is aimed at ensuring “the business peaks in the second week. He is here to redefine business by not just bringing a pre-Diwali release, but also a film that scores a bigger second week than the first due to the festive period.”

Sources cited by Bollywood Hungama further suggest that discussions regarding the revised release plan are still ongoing, with a final call expected soon.

Yash’s Earlier Comment Sparked Speculation

Conversations around a possible schedule shift intensified after Yash spoke about the film’s timeline during an interaction with a Hollywood news portal. The actor had said, “‘Ramayana’ we are planning this year, (on) Diwali, which is October last week.”

That statement fuelled speculation that the makers may already have been considering an earlier release slot around the final week of October.

Distribution Deal Yet To Be Finalised

The report also noted that an official announcement regarding the release date may depend on the finalisation of the film’s distribution agreement. The makers are reportedly negotiating a massive Rs 450 crore distribution deal, though discussions are still underway.

Ramayana: Part One was originally announced for a Diwali 2026 release, while Ramayana: Part Two is currently scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2027.
