FC Bayern Munich’s transfer plans are gaining momentum, with reports suggesting that a €40 million move for Yann Bisseck is becoming more likely. Inter Milan have reportedly placed a firm valuation on the German defender and are already preparing for his possible departure. Meanwhile, Bayern fans have directed criticism at the DFB ahead of the upcoming cup final. Here’s the latest surrounding Germany’s record champions.
Transfer developments: Inter Milan set €40 million valuation for Bisseck, replacements identified
Interest from FC Bayern in Yann Bisseck appears to be growing. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano earlier revealed that the Bavarians were tracking the 25-year-old centre-back’s situation at Inter Milan, though he was one of several defensive options under consideration. Now, a fresh report from La Gazzetta dello Sport has added new information to the story.
According to the Italian outlet, Inter have placed a €40 million price tag on the German international, who will not be part of the upcoming World Cup squad, and have already shortlisted two potential replacements. The first candidate is Tarik Muharemovic of Sassuolo, a promising defender who came through Juventus’ youth academy. The second option is Oumar Solet of Udinese, who has long been linked with a move to the Nerazzurri.
Inter’s defensive reshuffle could also see Francesco Acerbi and Matteo Darmian leave in the summer, while Alessandro Bastoni is now expected to stay after his proposed move to Barcelona collapsed.
Bisseck has recently switched agents to Giovanni Branchini, further fuelling transfer speculation. Under new manager Cristian Chivu, he has managed to establish himself in the back three alongside Manuel Akanji and Bastoni after a challenging start to the season. However, if Inter proceed with their plans to sign Muharemovic and Solet, they will likely need to generate funds. La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that despite Bisseck’s contract running until 2029, Inter would not prevent his sale, as the club requires capital to complete the incoming transfers.
Bayern’s defensive puzzle: focus could shift from right-back to centre-back
FC Bayern’s transfer focus has largely been on strengthening the right-back position, with Givairo Read of Feyenoord Rotterdam identified as their top target. However, attention could now shift towards central defence. Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah remain first-choice defenders, yet potential changes are being considered in the positions behind them.
Min-Jae Kim has been on the transfer list for some time and is expected to leave for around €25 million, according to kicker, with Fenerbahce currently in negotiations. Hiroki Ito could also depart after two injury-troubled seasons if a suitable offer arrives, with tz reporting an asking price of €20 million.
Bisseck is seen as a versatile option who could provide cover both at centre-back and right-back, offering Bayern tactical flexibility.
A similar scenario could arise on the left side of defence if Bayern decide to pursue Josko Gvardiol from Manchester City. According to Sport1, the Croatian defender is contemplating a summer exit and views a move to Bayern as an attractive possibility.
However, with Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah and Alphonso Davies already secured for the long term, Bayern would need to carefully evaluate such a move. Concerns over Davies’s fitness have opened opportunities for Konrad Laimer and Josip Stanisic to impress as backup options. In addition, Bayern are keeping a close watch on Eintracht Frankfurt’s centre-back Nathaniel Brown.
Fan outrage: Bayern supporters criticise DFB over high ticket prices for the cup final
Supporters of FC Bayern, through their association Club Nr. 12, have strongly criticised the DFB for what they describe as “exorbitant prices” for the upcoming cup final against VfB Stuttgart. Fans have highlighted that tickets in the cheapest category, priced at €45, are more expensive than comparable seats at UEFA finals. Furthermore, only two of the 169 seating blocks at Berlin’s Olympic Stadium have been allocated to this lowest-priced category – the smallest allocation by far.
“If, as a result, most fans from both clubs can only buy tickets for €80, €150 or even €195, then the so-called fan category at €45 is nothing but a façade. Calling this a fan category at that price is cynical,” the group stated in its press release, which grew increasingly critical in tone.
The statement also noted that the DFB had recently criticised FIFA for its own “astronomical” World Cup ticket prices. “I also take a critical view of the pricing policy. Football represents identity and community; it should remain affordable for average earners,” DFB President Bernd Neuendorf had said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
Club Nr. 12 concluded, “The DFB, which recently condemned FIFA’s excessive ticket prices, is once again failing to set a good example in its own backyard.”
