Manchester United Women have concluded a remarkable campaign that marked several milestones in the club’s history.

The team reached the League Cup final for the first time and advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, showcasing their growing strength on the European stage.

However, despite their progress, United ended the season without a trophy and missed out on qualifying for next season’s Champions League, finishing fourth in the Women’s Super League.

Last season, the Red Devils participated in the inaugural World Sevens tournament held in Portugal, where they finished as runners-up to Bayern Munich. Simi Awujo stood out during that event, earning the breakout star award for her performances.

The upcoming edition of the World Sevens will take place next week, from 28th to 30th May, at Brentford’s Gtech Community Stadium.

Manchester United have announced a strong travelling squad for the competition. Goalkeepers Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Safia Middleton-Patel, and Kayla Rendell will be part of the contingent.

The defence will feature Anna Sandberg, Gabby George, Maya Le Tissier, Hanna Lundkvist, Jayde Riviere, Millie Turner, and young prospect Jess Simpson.

In midfield, Ella Toone, Jess Park, Simi Awujo, Lisa Naalsund, Julia Zigiotti, and Emma Watson—who has recently returned from Mexico—will take charge of playmaking duties.

The forward line boasts considerable depth, with Melvine Malard, Elisabeth Terland, Ellen Wangerheim, and Lea Schuller all included in the squad.

Fridolina Rolfo is the most notable omission from the team’s travelling group.

United are set to begin their Group 2 fixtures against West Ham at 17:00 BST on Thursday, 28th May. The following day, Friday, 29th May, they will play two matches: first against Aston Villa at 15:00 BST, followed by a clash with Tottenham Hotspur at 20:00 BST.

The semi-finals are scheduled for Saturday, 30th May, with matches kicking off at either 11:00 or 12:00 BST. Should Manchester United reach the final, as they did last year, the title match will take place later that same day at 14:30 BST.
