New Delhi: On the special instructions of US President Donald Trump, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has officially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the White House. Rubio gave this invitation during an important meeting held at 'Seva Teerth' Hall, the Prime Minister's office in Delhi. In this conversation between the two leaders that lasted for about an hour, discussions were held to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in trade, defense and technology. US Ambassador Sergio Gore said that the Prime Minister may visit Washington soon.

Marco Rubio reached Kolkata on Saturday morning for his first visit to India. There he first visited 'Mother House', the global headquarters of Mother Teresa's 'Missionaries of Charity' and its associated orphanage 'Nirmala Shishu Bhawan'. He was also accompanied by his wife Janet Rubio and US Ambassador Sergio Gore. This is the first time in the last 14 years that a US Secretary of State has visited Kolkata. After completing his Kolkata tour, he reached Delhi in the afternoon and met PM Modi.
Rubio, who is on a four-day official visit, met Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Will hold bilateral talks with Jaishankar at Hyderabad House. In this conversation, there will be discussion on increasing the import of LNG and crude oil from America to ensure India's energy security in view of the war-like situation in West Asia. Besides, the new tariff policies of the Trump administration will also be discussed. After this he will also visit Agra and Jaipur cities. Marco Rubio will also participate in the important meeting of the foreign ministers of 'Quad' organization of India, America, Japan and Australia to be held in Delhi on May 26. It is believed that in this meeting, special emphasis will be laid on stopping China's interference in the Indo-Pacific region.
