New Delhi: On May 25, different colors of weather can be seen across the country. According to the latest forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department, on one hand, there is a possibility of increased activity of heavy rains and storms in many states of North-East, South and Eastern India. At the same time, many areas of North-West and Central India will be in the grip of extreme heat and heat wave. The Meteorological Department has issued warnings for many states regarding heavy rain, strong winds and lightning.

Weather is most active in North-East India

The weather is expected to be most active in North-East India. Thunderstorms along with rain may continue in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. Heavy to very heavy rain is expected especially in Arunachal Pradesh. In Assam and Meghalaya also, life may be affected due to heavy rains and stormy winds. According to the Meteorological Department, wind speed can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in many areas. Apart from this, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, which may lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas.

There is a possibility of rain continuing in the states of South India also. There may be heavy rain in many parts of Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karnataka. Special warning has been issued regarding heavy rainfall in Kerala and Lakshadweep. Strong winds along with thunderstorms are expected in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. At the same time, some areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana may also remain cloudy and there may be heavy rain at some places. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen and farmers going into the sea to be cautious.

The weather will also be seen changing in the eastern Indian states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Bihar and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, while Jharkhand and Odisha may receive rain with strong winds and thunderstorms. There may also be continuous rainfall in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Effect of heat wave in Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh

On the other hand, many parts of North India will continue to struggle with scorching heat. The effect of heat wave will continue in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Severe heatwave conditions may occur in parts of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The temperature in Rajasthan is likely to be much above normal.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to remain alert. There is a possibility of waterlogging, traffic disruption and power supply being affected in areas of heavy rain. In the heat affected areas, people have been advised to avoid going out in the afternoon, drink enough water and take special care of children and the elderly.
