CBSE: CBSE Extends Deadline to Obtain Scanned Copies of Class 12 Answer Sheets; Opportunity Available Until Today, May 25..
Indiaemploymentnews | May 25, 2026 1:39 PM CST

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the deadline for obtaining scanned copies of evaluated Class 12 board examination answer sheets by one day. The Board took this decision in light of technical glitches encountered on its website. Students can now apply until 11:59 PM on May 25. Previously, the deadline had been set for May 24.

Several technical issues surfaced while students were applying for scanned copies of their answer sheets. Consequently, discrepancies arose regarding fee deductions for many students. In some instances, students were charged an excess amount, while in others—due to system errors—a lower fee was collected.

**Issues on the Portal Since May 19**

Students report that technical glitches on the portal began appearing immediately upon the commencement of the application process for scanned copies on May 19. Many candidates complained that despite successful payment transactions, they were unable to complete their applications. Some students also noted that the website was crashing repeatedly and failing to proceed beyond the "Preview & Confirmation" page.

**Re-evaluation Process to Begin Soon**

The Board has also clarified that the dates for applying for re-evaluation will be announced shortly. CBSE stated that the re-evaluation portal would remain open for at least two days following the availability of the scanned copies. Students wishing to view scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets must submit their applications within the stipulated timeframe. The Board has advised students not to wait until the last minute to apply.

**Refunds Announced for Incorrect Fee Deductions**

The Board has clarified that students who were charged an excess amount will receive a refund of the extra sum via the same payment method used for the transaction (e.g., UPI, card, etc.). Students who were undercharged will be provided with separate instructions regarding the payment of the remaining balance. Furthermore, all affected students will be provided with their scanned answer sheets without the need to submit a fresh application.

**Major Changes Made to Fee Structure**

This year, CBSE has also implemented a significant reduction in the applicable fees. Previously, students had to pay ₹700 to obtain a scanned copy; however, this fee has now been reduced to ₹100. Additionally, the fee for the verification of answer sheets has been lowered from ₹500 to ₹100. Meanwhile, for re-evaluation, students will be required to pay a fee of ₹25 per question.

**What did the CBSE say?**
Issuing an official statement regarding the entire matter, the CBSE assured students and parents that there is no need to panic. The Board stated that all genuine grievances related to scanned copies, evaluation, or re-evaluation will be examined by subject experts in accordance with established procedures.

The Board also acknowledged that the portal experienced heavy traffic due to the influx of a large number of applications within a short span of time, which led to technical glitches. According to the CBSE, continuous corrective measures are being undertaken to strengthen the system and resolve these issues.
