Nottingham Forest are on the verge of completing the transfer of Arnaud Kalimuendo, with Rennes accepting a £26 million offer from the Premier League club.
WHAT HAPPENED?
As reported by L'Equipe, Forest had already reached an agreement on personal terms with Kalimuendo before finalising the £26 million ($35 million) transfer with Rennes, where the French striker remained under contract until 2027.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Forest are currently revamping their forward line as part of a broader effort to build on last season’s seventh-place finish. The club recently secured the signing of Dan Ndoye from Bologna and extended Morgan Gibbs-White’s contract. The addition of Kalimuendo is expected to further strengthen their attacking options. The 22-year-old forward scored 17 goals and contributed three assists for Rennes during the previous Ligue 1 campaign, where they ended the season in 12th place.
DID YOU KNOW?
In addition to bolstering their attack, Forest are looking to reinforce their midfield as well. The club has identified USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah as a potential signing and is also showing interest in Juventus star Douglas Luiz.
WHAT NEXT FOR KALIMUENDO AND FOREST?
Once Kalimuendo officially joins the club, Forest will focus on integrating the French striker swiftly into their first-team setup to maximise his impact in the upcoming season.
