If not, then definitely do it now. These pakodas made from bottle gourd are so delicious in taste that even those who do not like bottle gourd vegetable, ask for them again and again. The special thing is that they are prepared quickly and are also considered healthy.
Ingredients required to make bottle gourd pakodas
- 1 medium size bottle gourd
- 1 cup gram flour
- 2 tbsp rice flour or semolina
- ginger-garlic paste
- 1-2 finely chopped green chillies
- turmeric powder
- chilli powder
- coriander powder
- cumin and fennel
- finely chopped coriander
- salt as per taste
- oil for frying
Prepare bottle gourd like this
First of all, wash the bottle gourd thoroughly and peel it. After this, grate it or cut it into thin round slices. Now soak the bottle gourd in lightly salted water for 5 minutes. Then take it out and keep it aside for some time so that the excess water gets removed.
How to make pakoda batter?
Add gram flour and rice flour in a large bowl. Add ginger-garlic paste, green chilli, turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder, cumin, fennel and salt and mix well.
Now prepare a thick and smooth batter by adding water little by little. Keep in mind that the batter should not be too thin. Finally add green coriander and mix.
Make crispy gourd pakodas like this
Heat oil in a pan. Now dip the bottle gourd slices in the batter and put them in hot oil. Fry the pakodas on medium flame until they become golden brown and crispy on both sides. Take out the prepared pakodas on tissue paper to remove excess oil.
Serve like this with tea
Serve hot gourd pakodas with green chutney or tomato sauce. If you want, you can enhance its taste further by sprinkling chaat masala on top. Be it rain or light hunger in the evening, these crispy pakodas win everyone’s heart.
