Before Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé could make their mark, Harry Kane added another accolade to his name by steering Bayern Munich to a domestic double this season.
Owing to his remarkable goal-scoring form, the Bayern Munich striker has also claimed an esteemed individual honour.
Harry Kane secured the Golden Boot after netting 36 goals in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich last season, a total that comfortably kept him ahead of his European rivals.
Kane topped the scoring charts with his 36 goals, earning 72 points and finishing well ahead of Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. The Norwegian, who won the Golden Boot in the 2022/2023 campaign, registered 27 goals (54 points).
Kylian Mbappé claimed third place. The French forward, now at Real Madrid, scored 25 goals (50 points) last season. In the previous season, Mbappé had been Europe’s leading scorer with 31 goals. Despite Viktor Gyökeres netting 39 goals in Portugal’s top division for Sporting Lisbon, the Swedish striker finished second due to the league’s 1.5 coefficient multiplier.
Completing the top eight were Dion Beljo, Vedat Muriqi, Igor Thiago, Luis Suárez, and Esteban Lepaul. The next Bundesliga player on the list was Deniz Undav, who placed ninth with 19 goals (38 points) for VfB Stuttgart.
With a lucrative contract running until 2027, questions remain about how long Kane will continue his prolific spell in Munich.
Just last weekend, Undav faced Kane in the DFB-Pokal final, where the Bayern Munich star’s hat-trick secured the trophy for his side.
After the match, Undav lauded Kane’s performance, saying, “You can’t afford to give him even a moment of space. His finishing with both feet is world-class, and his positioning instinct is exceptional. The passes he delivers to Olise or Diaz are also top-quality. That’s what defines a world-class player.”
For Kane, who now boasts 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern Munich, this marks his second Golden Boot. He previously earned the award in his debut 2023/2024 season, also with 36 goals.
However, the 32-year-old has hinted that his time with Bayern may not be indefinite. “At this stage of my career, I want to make the most of my contract. This will likely be one of the last deals I sign as a player,” Kane said last weekend, referring to ongoing discussions about extending his current agreement at Säbener Straße, which runs until 2027.
