Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on Monday announced a waiver of cooperative bank crop loans of up to Rs 50,000 for marginal farmers and a relief of Rs 5,000 for large farmers.
The scheme is expected to benefit 14.22 lakh farmers across the state and will entail a total government expenditure of Rs 2,044 crore, the Chief Minister said.

The announcement was made by CM Vijay on Monday, May 25.
Marginal farmers with outstanding cooperative bank crop loans of up to Rs 50,000 will have their dues fully waived under the scheme. Large farmers will receive a flat relief of Rs 5,000 toward their crop loan repayment.
The state government did not immediately specify a timeline for the disbursal of the waiver amount or the modalities for its implementation.
