Applying ‘cooling powder’ in the heat? The clock of the skin is ringing quietly, be careful!

Prana is oral in this summer. Kolkata or suburbs. At ten o’clock the fan of the house started fanning the fire. It is needless to say that there is no comfort even after taking a bath in the morning. So, indoors or outdoors, rely on handfuls of ‘cooling powder’. At night before going to sleep or after taking a bath and leaving the office. Pour the powder on the neck, neck, back and get ice-cold comfort in one fell swoop. Even for a moment, it seems like ‘this is heavenly happiness’!

But dermatologists say it’s not a happy time. Because behind this happiness there is great danger. This ‘heavenly feeling’ is actually just an illusion. The powder that you think is your best friend is silently playing tricks on your skin.

How does ‘cooling powder’ harm?

In fact, the menthol or camphor present in such powders temporarily excites our nerves. As a result, an artificial feeling of coolness is created. Cooling powder, however, does not prevent sweating, and has nothing to do with body temperature.

In this vapsa weather, the real trouble comes when the sweat starts pouring down again ten minutes after applying the powder. Underneath the white layer of powder, sweat and external dirt get trapped. As a result, the skin becomes more moist and flaky. Experts say, there is no medical quality or therapeutic benefit behind this quick relief. On the other hand, the harsh artificial fragrance of the powder completely destroys the skin’s own protective shell or ‘skin barrier’.

Especially for those who have sensitive skin, this menthol is very harmful. Rubbing this powder daily on the folded parts of the body like neck, underarms or groin completely closes the pores. Over a long period of time, sweat and powder mixed together to form a sticky mud. Which becomes an ideal breeding ground for bacteria and fungi.

Keep body cool without cooling powder like this
1) Eliminate moisture:
After bathing, pat each fold of the body with a towel and dry well. If there is no moisture in the body, the fungus will not be able to build a nest.

2) Cotton Dress: Say goodbye to synthetic clothing this summer. Allow skin to breathe in open air. Light-colored, loose-fitting cotton clothing is a hot companion.

3) The Magic of Zinc Oxide: If there is a tendency to scratch or rash, leave the powder and start using zinc oxide cream as advised by the doctor.

4) Substitute Powder: If you must use powder alone, opt for ‘talc-free’ or cornstarch powder instead of regular powders.

5) Touch of Nature: For skin comfort, not artificial cold, opt for a light gel-based body lotion with aloe vera or calamine.
