Indian stock market on Monday ended on a strong note with Nifty above 24,000, and Sensex gained over 1000 points amid positive global cues on hopes of US-Iran deal. At close, Sensex was up by 1,073.61 points or 1.42% to end the session at 76,488.96 while Nifty was at 24,031.70, up by 312.40 points or 1.32%.

Among the sectors, oil & gas, media, auto, bank, energy, realty were key gainers shooting up to 1% each.

In a single session, investors earned about Rs 6 lakh crore. The overall market capitalisation of BSE-listed firms rose to nearly Rs 469 lakh crore from Rs 463 lakh crore in the previous session.

Market sentiments were driven by the optimism over the US Iran truce talks. US President Donald Trump on Saturday said there was significant progress towards a peace deal with Iran.

Easing of crude oil prices also led to softening of the markets sentiments as the Brent crude prices fell to 97.92 dollars per barrel, while US crude oil is currently at 91.15 dollars per barrel.

Indian Rupee also gained during the day further boosting the markets as the currency traded strongly positive near 95.22.

 On Rupee performance, Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities said, "Rupee traded strongly positive near 95.22, gaining around 0.45%, as improving sentiment around the US–Iran conflict supported risk assets and eased pressure on crude oil prices. Reports suggesting progress towards a possible peace framework and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz helped strengthen the rupee and other emerging market currencies.

However, uncertainty still remains elevated after US President Donald Trump stated that the Hormuz blockade would continue until a final agreement is formally signed, keeping markets cautious despite positive negotiations."

"The rupee recovery is also being aided by softer crude prices and improving sentiment in global markets, though movement ahead will continue to depend heavily on final developments in US–Iran negotiations and energy market stability."
