Liverpool’s left-back Andy Robertson may soon join fellow Scotsman Scott McTominay in Serie A, with Juventus showing strong interest in securing his signature. The defender, who has been a key figure at Anfield for nearly a decade, is reportedly weighing his options as he nears a potential exit from the Premier League.
Juventus target Robertson
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Juventus have formally expressed interest in Robertson, whose successful nine-year spell with Liverpool includes multiple major honours. The Italian giants are eager to bring his experience and leadership to Turin as they continue rebuilding their defence under the tactical approach inspired by Luciano Spalletti.
Following McTominay’s smooth transition to Italian football, Juventus believe Robertson’s proven quality and consistency could add crucial stability to their backline. However, the Bianconeri will have to fend off competition from Premier League rivals. Tottenham Hotspur, long-time admirers of the Scottish full-back, remain in contention and are currently leading the race to keep him in England. Even so, the opportunity to take on a new challenge in Serie A might appeal to Robertson at this stage of his career.
Alisson also on Juventus’ shortlist
Robertson is not the only Liverpool star attracting attention from the Turin-based club. Juventus have also made inquiries about Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who previously impressed in Serie A during his stint with Roma. Having worked under Spalletti earlier in his career, Alisson is seen as an ideal candidate to provide leadership and top-level experience between the posts.
Despite Juventus’ enthusiasm, convincing Liverpool to part ways with Alisson will not be easy. Former Liverpool defender John Arne Riise recently commented on the challenge of such a move, saying: “I can’t see him leaving because he’s an unbelievable player. He’s so important to the club and to the players and to our defence. If he’s going to leave, who are you going to get? I mean, who is at that level? Nobody.”
Experienced profiles at the heart of Juventus’ plans
The pursuit of both Robertson and Alisson reflects Juventus’ strategy to strengthen their squad with seasoned professionals following a disappointing campaign. Spalletti has emphasised the need for experienced leaders to guide the club’s next phase, and the Liverpool duo fit that vision perfectly.
Although both players have spent the prime years of their careers in the Premier League, the appeal of Serie A and the chance to join McTominay in Italy could prove persuasive. Juventus have already outlined their proposals and are waiting to see if they can convince the pair to make the move.
Transition period at Anfield
If Robertson and Alisson do depart, it would signify a significant transformation in Liverpool’s core leadership group. Mohamed Salah has already confirmed his exit and bid farewell to the club, while Ibrahima Konate is expected to make a decision soon on a proposed contract extension.
With new manager Arne Slot now at the helm, Liverpool are preparing for a rebuilding phase after a disappointing season that saw them fall behind Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race. The potential exits of Robertson and Alisson would mark the end of an era at Anfield and the start of a new chapter for both the club and the players involved.
