There was chaos at Bengaluru airport on Tuesday due to the sudden appearance of smoke in an Indigo flight. When Chennai-bound IndiGo flight 6E 6017 was taxiing towards the runway, smoke was seen inside the plane. In view of the situation, immediate emergency steps were taken and the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated from the aircraft.
What did Indigo say?
Confirming the incident, Indigo Airlines said that on May 26, 2026, flight 6E 6017 from Bengaluru to Chennai was moving towards the runway when smoke was seen in the plane. Considering the safety, emergency evacuation was done immediately and the concerned authorities have been informed. Indigo said that all the passengers and crew are completely safe. The airline said all passengers have been brought back to the terminal, where they are being cared for.
Arrangements were made for the second flight
Indigo said that arrangements have been made for an alternative aircraft to take the passengers to their destination, which will depart soon. According to Indigo, refreshments are also being given to the passengers during the wait, so that they do not face any inconvenience.

The airline said in its statement that the safety of passengers and crew is the biggest priority for us. Indigo said that at present, the reasons behind the smoke are being investigated. Initially no major technical fault has been confirmed.

The airline said that officials to Bengaluru Airport and Aviation have started investigating the entire matter. Further action will be taken after finding out the cause of the fire or smoke.
