Theft At Zoya Akhatar Production House: A case of major theft has come to light from the production company ‘Tiger Baby Films’ of filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. Many hard disks containing important data of films and web series have gone missing from the Mumbai office. The police have arrested an employee of the company in this case.

How did the matter come to light?
According to reports, the company’s executive assistant Mehjabeen Mushtaq Shaikh has lodged an FIR in this matter. It was told in the complaint that raw footage, edited scenes, promotional content and backup data of films were kept safe in the hard disk in the office. Earlier these hard disks were kept in the office cupboard, but later their responsibility was handed over to employee Shahid Khan.

Suspicion increased due to missing hard disk
On May 21, the office staff asked for a hard disk for work, but Shahid could not give it. After this the employees became suspicious and the office shelves were checked. During investigation, several hard disks were found missing.

Employees also found some burnt boxes inside the cupboard, although there were no signs of fire. After this, the company owners were immediately informed and an internal investigation was started.

The accused confessed to the crime
During police interrogation, Shahid Khan allegedly confessed to the theft. He told that in the last five months he stole several hard disks. The accused told the police that he had sold 24 hard disks to a person named Ritesh, a resident of Borivali, at the rate of Rs 15 to 20 thousand per hard disk. However, he could not provide information about the remaining missing hard disks.

Loss could be worth crores
According to the company, out of total 119 hard disks, 66 are still missing. The price of these hard disks is said to be around Rs 12 to 13 lakh. It is being told that important data of many films and web series was present in it. These included data from projects like Made in Heaven, Ghost Stories, Nykaa Campaign and Gandhi Money.

Industry experts believe that if this data gets leaked online, the production house may suffer a loss of crores of rupees.

Tiger Baby Films was started in the year 2015 by Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The company’s first film was ‘Gully Boy’, in which Ranveer Singh was seen in the lead role.

This production house has produced many popular films and web series. At the same time, Zoya Akhtar also often works with her brother Farhan Akhtar’s company ‘Excel Entertainment’.
