New Delhi:The political atmosphere heated up in Kerala on Wednesday when CPI (M) workers attacked the agency’s team in protest against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid. Let us tell you, this action was taken in connection with the investigation of the bribery case on the premises to former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family.

what is the whole matter

According to the information, a vehicle carrying ED officials was stopped on the way by party workers. During this, the protesters raised slogans against the central agency and broke the windshield of the vehicle. Not only this, a woman officer was also present in the vehicle during the incident and during this time the situation became so tense that the police and central security forces had to work hard to control the crowd.

How many places were raided?

In fact, the ED simultaneously raided 10 places across the state, which included the official residence of Pinarayi Vijayan in Thiruvananthapuram, his ancestral home in Kannur and the house of his son-in-law and former minister Mohammed Riyas in Kozhikode. After the raid began, Vijayan and his family members remained inside the house, while a large number of CPI(M) supporters gathered outside and started protesting. Let us tell you, during the demonstration, there is also news of some workers throwing plastic bottles, helmets and stones at the security personnel. However, later senior party leaders reached the spot and pacified the protesters and tried to control the situation.

investigation agency’s allegation

It is being told that this action of ED has been taken in the case of alleged financial transactions to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL). The investigating agency alleges that between 2018 and 2019, the company had paid around Rs 1.72 crore to Vijayan’s daughter T Veena’s company Exalogic Solutions, while no services were provided in return.

The raid took place at a time when the Kerala High Court had rejected CMRL’s petition a day earlier, demanding cancellation of the ED’s investigation process. In the meantime, it remains to be seen how long this matter will calm down across the state.
