FC Barcelona appears to be wasting no time in the transfer window, taking decisive action soon after the season’s end. Could the Catalan giants be preparing for a remarkable trio of new arrivals?

The Blaugrana are on the verge of completing an €80 million deal for Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, with the winger said to have already completed his medical tests successfully.

In addition, Atlético Madrid forward Julian Alvarez could also be on the move, as Fabrizio Romano reports that the player has formally requested his release. Barcelona have, reportedly, submitted an official €100 million bid to secure his services.

Meanwhile, a third major addition seems close. Reports from January suggested that Bernardo Silva was keen on a move to the Camp Nou. The 31-year-old midfielder’s contract with Manchester City expires on 30 June, and in April, he confirmed his decision to leave after nine seasons, 460 appearances, 76 goals, and 77 assists with the Premier League champions.

According to the Portuguese outlet A Bola, negotiations between Barcelona and Silva are progressing smoothly. The report adds that the midfielder is even prepared to accept a substantial wage reduction to make the switch to Catalonia.

Silva’s agent, Jorge Mendes, first reached out to Barcelona during the winter transfer window. The player’s personal admiration for the club, bolstered by his existing relationships in Barcelona, is understood to be a key factor behind his determination to join.

Barcelona’s stance on Bernardo Silva has evolved significantly since the start of the year.

Initially, the club hierarchy felt the midfield department had sufficient depth and preferred to give academy players like Marc Casado and Marc Bernal more opportunities rather than investing heavily in a new signing. However, Casado might now play a different role in the transfer equation — potentially being offered as part of the deal for Alvarez.

Reports indicate that Atlético Madrid had already shown interest in Casado as early as January, and the 22-year-old could now be included in a swap arrangement to facilitate Alvarez’s move to Barcelona.

While some critics question how Barcelona can pursue such high-value transfers amidst their ongoing financial challenges, club officials remain confident that a combination of strategic player sales and carefully planned signings will help maintain financial stability.
