Premier League relegation odds: Tottenham’s survival chances take a hit after Nottingham Forest defeat

As Wembley took centre stage on Sunday for the Carabao Cup final, where English football’s first major trophy of the season was decided, it was also a critical weekend for teams battling to avoid relegation.

Tottenham Hotspur, struggling for form, hosted fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest in a crucial six-pointer. Igor Tudor’s men continued their poor run, falling to a 3-0 home defeat against Vitor Pereira’s side.

Elsewhere, West Ham United suffered a loss at Aston Villa, while Leeds United held Brentford to a goalless draw at Elland Road. So, how have these results affected the relegation picture? Here’s a breakdown of the current relegation odds according to William Hill (all odds accurate at the time of writing).

Wolverhampton Wanderers were not in action this weekend, as their scheduled fixture against Arsenal was moved to accommodate the Gunners’ participation in the Carabao Cup final.

Rob Edwards’s men had scored a dramatic late equaliser in that earlier fixture, part of a recent improvement in form for the Premier League’s bottom side.

However, the Midlands club still sit at the foot of the table, 13 points from safety with only seven matches remaining. As a result, bookmakers consider them near certainties for relegation.

Burnley, too, are viewed as almost certain to go down. They currently have 20 points—three more than Wolves—but remain ten points adrift of safety.

Scott Parker’s side have conceded a league-high 61 goals this season, a stark contrast to their record-breaking defensive performance in the Championship last year, where they allowed just 16 goals. With odds of 1/200 to be relegated, the Clarets are now likely preparing for a return to second-tier football next season.

With the bottom two teams seemingly doomed, the real battle now centres on who will occupy the final relegation spot.

West Ham currently sit in 18th place but are only one point behind their London rivals Tottenham. According to bookmakers, the Hammers’ odds of going down are evenly balanced at even money.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have lost just two of their last seven games and will hope to maintain their momentum, having recently beaten Fulham away and held Manchester City to a draw.

One of the most surprising stories of the Premier League season is Tottenham’s descent into the relegation fight. What began as a minor dip in form has now developed into a full-blown struggle for survival.

After last month’s home loss to Newcastle United, Thomas Frank was dismissed, but results have not improved under interim boss Igor Tudor. Spurs have collected just one point from their last five matches.

Tottenham remain the only Premier League side without a win in 2026 and now sit just one place and one point above the relegation zone. A significant turnaround is required if they are to avoid Championship football next season.

Nottingham Forest gave their survival prospects a major boost on Sunday with a convincing 3-0 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

That result lifted them to 16th place, three points clear of the bottom three, and their relegation odds have lengthened to 6/1. It’s been a tumultuous campaign at the City Ground, with Vitor Pereira being the club’s fourth manager of the season, so fans will remain cautious despite the improvement.

Leeds United also gained valuable ground with their 0-0 draw against Brentford. Daniel Farke’s men now sit four points clear of the relegation zone, and their odds of going down have eased accordingly.

With key fixtures still to come against Wolves, Burnley, Spurs, and West Ham on the final day, Leeds are set to play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of this season’s relegation battle.
