LIC Bima Sakhi Scheme: ‘Bima Sakhi’ scheme, launched by the country’s largest insurance company Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), is continuously playing an important role in financially empowering women. This scheme has emerged as an excellent source of employment especially for women living in rural areas and small towns.
It is worth noting that the most special thing about this scheme is that the women participating in it do not depend only on commission in the initial phase; Rather, they are paid a fixed monthly stipend for the first three years.
An opportunity for 10th pass candidates
To join this scheme, women’s age should be between 18 to 70 years. An important thing is that the minimum educational qualification for this is only 10th pass, due to which even women with less formal education get a chance to move forward and succeed.
With the aim of increasing the reach of insurance in rural areas, priority is given to women living in those areas. However, as per the rules, women who already have a LIC employee or agent in their family are not eligible to join this scheme.
How to earn through honorarium and commission
Women enrolled in this scheme get a fixed financial assistance every month for the first three years. A monthly honorarium of Rs 7,000 is given in the first year, then Rs 6,000 in the second year and Rs 5,000 in the third year.
Apart from this, the women involved also earn additional commission on the insurance policies sold by them. A key condition for continuation of these benefits is that at least 65% of the policies sold during the first year must remain active.
how to apply
LIC also provides extensive training to the women joining this scheme. In this training, along with information about various insurance products, techniques to interact effectively with customers are also taught. After completion of training, these women can continue working as LIC agents for a long time.
The application process for this scheme is very simple. Interested women can fill the online application form by visiting the official website of LIC, where they will have to upload documents proving their age, address and educational qualification.
