La Liga heavyweights Atlético Madrid stirred widespread attention across Spain and beyond on Friday evening.
The Rojiblancos made it abundantly clear that they have grown increasingly frustrated with the constant media speculation surrounding transfer dealings.
Throughout the day, reports once again linked Atlético’s star forward Julián Alvarez with a potential move to Barcelona, suggesting that the Catalan club had made a €100 million bid for the Argentine striker.
In addition, the Madrid-based side were also said to be seriously interested in signing outgoing Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva.
It appears that such rumours have not been well received by the management at the Metropolitano Stadium.
To make their stance known, Atlético Madrid shared a satirical post on their official social media channels on Friday evening. The post cleverly mimicked journalist Fabrizio Romano’s iconic ‘Here We Go’ phrase, presenting a mock transfer offer for Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal.
The post read: “HERE WE GO! We have sent a fax to Barcelona with our transfer offer: four tickets for tomorrow’s Bad Bunny concert, a yearly subscription to ABC, and a bag of sunflower seeds. We eagerly await the response to prepare the ‘announcement.’”
Shortly after, the club followed up with another post, adding: “And remember, it took us just five minutes to create this fake post.”
