The Canada national football team has officially released its 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The announcement was made through the team's official Instagram account, @canmnt, on Saturday (30 May 2026).
As one of the host nations alongside the United States and Mexico, Canada is bringing its strongest lineup in pursuit of making history in front of home supporters.
Head coach Jesse Marsch has retained several core players who have been the backbone of Les Rouges over the past few years.
Marsch described this group as the golden generation of Canadian football, composed largely of players competing in top European leagues.
Captain Alphonso Davies remains included in the squad despite not being fully recovered from a hamstring injury.
The Bayern Munich defender is expected to continue his recovery ahead of Canada’s opening group stage match.
Alongside Davies, Canada will rely heavily on the attacking prowess of Jonathan David.
The star striker is expected to be the primary goal scorer for the team throughout the tournament.
Marsch has also called up Tajon Buchanan, Stephen Eustaquio, Cyle Larin, and Ismael Kone to strengthen the squad’s depth.
The blend of youth and experience is believed to give Canada a more mature and balanced team compared to their appearance in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Thirteen players from the current roster previously featured in the last edition, giving the team valuable international experience to handle the pressure of a major competition.
Canada has been drawn into Group B alongside Bosnia and Herzegovina, Qatar, and Switzerland.
Their opening match is scheduled to take place in Toronto before continuing the group stage fixtures in Vancouver.
As hosts, Canada has set an ambitious goal of advancing past the group stage for the first time in its history.
Previously, Canada participated in the 1986 and 2022 World Cups but failed to reach the knockout rounds.
With a more experienced squad and the backing of home fans, Jesse Marsch expressed confidence that his team could be one of the surprise packages of the 2026 tournament.
