New Delhi: As soon as he returned from his trip to Russia, the attitude of Taliban’s acting Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yakub Mujahid seems to have completely changed. Immediately after the Security Forum meeting in Moscow and an important military-technical cooperation agreement with Russia, the Taliban has given the most direct and open warning ever to its neighbor Pakistan.

What did Yakub Mujahid say

Yakub Mujahid has said in clear words that now it is not going to be as easy as before to violate the sovereignty of Afghanistan and carry out air attacks on it.

direct warning to pakistan

According to a report by BBC Urdu, while talking to journalists at Kabul International Airport, Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob openly mentioned the recent air strikes by Pakistan. He said, a few months ago you must have seen that they had bombed different parts of Afghanistan. We are trying with all our might that Pakistan should not dare to do such audacity again in the coming future.

Moscow Security Forum and presence of Ajit Doval

Mullah Yakub had gone to attend a high-level meeting of an international security forum held in Russia this week. This forum is also being considered special because after Russia took steps towards officially recognizing the Taliban administration, this was the first major security conference in which the top leadership of Taliban participated. Interestingly, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present on this global platform.

Will Taliban get Russian air defense?

During this visit, a defense agreement was signed between Russia and the Taliban. Both countries have not made public the secret strategic aspects of this agreement, but Afghan media reports and defense analysts claim that the talks were not limited to just repairing old weapons.

Taliban’s clarification

According to sources, the Taliban has been largely successful in convincing Russia to provide modern air defense systems (such as S-300, S-400 or Pantsir Air Defense System). On returning to Kabul, Yakub tried to calm down the speculations for strategic reasons and said that the agreement is mainly to the maintenance of old Russian helicopters and planes present in Afghanistan.

Tension deepens on Pak-Afghan border

In the last few months, Pakistan has carried out several air and rocket strikes inside the Afghan border, claiming to target Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) positions. Countering this, the Taliban now wants to strengthen its air defense capabilities so much that Pakistani fighter planes can be prevented from entering its territory. It is clear from this statement of Yakub that the military tension on the Pak-Afghan border may deepen further in the coming days.
