Three Players Who Have Scored in Champions League Finals for Different Clubs

Kai Havertz entered an elite group of UEFA Champions League players when he found the back of the net for Arsenal against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2026 final.

This marked the second time Havertz has scored in a Champions League final, having previously netted for Chelsea in the 2021 edition. That achievement also made him the ninth player ever to score in more than one final.

What makes his feat even more remarkable is that the German midfielder became only the third player to score in the final for two different clubs since the tournament was rebranded in 1992.

Unfortunately for the 26-year-old, his goal wasn’t enough to secure victory this time, as PSG triumphed in the penalty shootout to retain their title.

Cristiano Ronaldo remains the only footballer to have scored in three Champions League finals. He first struck for Manchester United in the 2008 final in Moscow, helping the club to a third Champions League trophy. Although he missed his penalty during the shootout after the game ended 1-1, John Terry’s slip ultimately spared him from disappointment.

After his move to Real Madrid, Ronaldo scored again in the 2014 final against Atletico Madrid — converting a penalty when Los Blancos were already 3-1 ahead and cruising to victory. He played an even more decisive role in the 2017 final versus Juventus, opening the scoring in the 20th minute and later extending Madrid’s lead to 3-1. Real Madrid went on to win 4-1, earning their 12th European crown.

Similar to Havertz, Mario Mandzukic has also scored in both a winning and losing Champions League final. The Croatian forward netted the opening goal for Bayern Munich in their 2013 triumph over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley and later scored the equaliser for Juventus in their 2017 defeat to Real Madrid.

Havertz’s first goal in the Champions League came in the 2021 final, where Chelsea stunned favourites Manchester City. His strike was the only goal of the match and secured the Blues their second Champions League title.

Five years later, representing Arsenal, Havertz once again opened the scoring in the 2026 final — racing through on goal before blasting his shot into the roof of the net. However, the Gunners ultimately fell short against reigning champions PSG, who held their nerve in the shootout to lift the trophy once more.
