Kokum Sharbat and Sol Kadhi, nourishment with coolness in summer!

The heat wave continues in many parts of the country. By changing the eating habits in this season, one can remain healthy to a great extent. In such a situation, people resort to natural drinks to keep the body cool amidst the scorching sun and rising temperatures. These drinks not only provide relief from heat but also provide essential nutrients to the body.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also seen mentioning such natural and healthy drinks prevalent in many parts of the country in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on Sunday. These drinks, prepared from local ingredients in different states of India, are a part of the culture and tradition there. In these, along with taste, health is also taken special care of.

All these drinks come out of home kitchens without any major branding. These do not contain any chemicals or preservatives. In summer, instead of cold drinks from the market, include these indigenous and natural drinks in your daily routine. These not only help in fighting heat but also keep the body healthy from inside.

Aam Panna:- This drink made from raw mangoes is most popular in summer. It is rich in vitamin C, iron and electrolytes. It provides coolness to the body, improves digestion and removes fatigue caused by heat.

Lassi:- Pride of Punjab and Haryana. This thick and delicious lassi made from curd is rich in protein, calcium and probiotics. It keeps the stomach healthy and helps in maintaining energy in summer.

Buttermilk:- There is a trend of consuming buttermilk with food in Rajasthan and Gujarat as well as in other parts of the country. It is light, easy to digest and very good for the digestive system. It contains vitamin B12, calcium and probiotics, which are beneficial for intestinal health.

Sattu Sharbat:- Traditional drink of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. This sherbet made from Sattu is a treasure of protein, fiber and minerals. It keeps the stomach full, removes fatigue and cools the body in summer.
