Former Team India star Ashok Dinda becomes minister in Bengal government, Shubhendu given big responsibility

Tezzbuzz Desk- Political turmoil has intensified in West Bengal after the cabinet expansion on Monday. A total of 35 MLAs in the cabinet of the Shubhendu government of the state took the oath of ministerial office and secrecy during the swearing-in ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

Governor R. N. Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari and many senior BJP leaders also participated in the ceremony held in the presence of Ravi.

The biggest feature of this cabinet expansion was that former Indian cricket team fast bowler Ashok Dinda was sworn in as Minister of State. He had won from Moyna Assembly seat on BJP ticket.

Dinda won the seat for the second consecutive time by defeating his nearest rival by a huge margin of 16,241 votes. Earlier in 2021 also, he had won in a very close contest.

The swearing-in ceremony started with the cabinet ministers, where the first 7 MLAs were made cabinet ministers. After this, 3 MLAs took oath as Minister of State and finally 19 MLAs were given the responsibility of Minister of State.

Ashok Dinda’s cricket career has also been quite popular. He made his international debut for India against Sri Lanka in December 2009.

In his career, he played 13 ODI and 9 T20 International matches, in which he took a total of 29 wickets. His performance was very important for Bengal in domestic cricket.

Dinda also came a long way in IPL and took 69 wickets in 78 matches. He was a part of teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Delhi Capitals (DC), Pune Warriors India (PWI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS).

After retirement from cricket, Ashok Dinda joined Bharatiya Janata Party in February 2021. After this, he quickly made his mark in active politics and now by becoming a Minister of State, he has proved that he is ready to play a long innings in the field of politics also.

With this cabinet expansion, the state government has indicated to strengthen its hold at both the organization and administration levels.
