Barcelona’s pursuit of Argentine forward Julian Alvarez has reportedly intensified, with new reports indicating that the Catalan club has already made a formal move to secure his signature for a potential transfer to Spotify Camp Nou.

As per the latest information from Mundo Deportivo, sources close to Barcelona have confirmed that the club has officially submitted an offer to Atletico Madrid for Alvarez.

The bid, valued at €100 million, was sent directly to Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Mateu Alemany through email correspondence.

This development carries weight because Atletico Madrid had earlier denied receiving any formal proposal for the Argentine international. However, the new details suggest that Barcelona’s offer was indeed genuine, even if subsequent public statements from the Madrid-based club downplayed the situation.

Throughout this transfer saga, Barcelona have maintained a composed stance, avoiding any public confrontation or tension with Atletico Madrid. The Blaugrana see this as a standard transfer market negotiation, similar to those that unfold every summer.

Nevertheless, what remains undisputed is Barcelona’s genuine interest in acquiring Alvarez’s services.

The next step now lies with Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side must decide whether to respond to Barcelona’s offer or hold firm to their position regarding the forward’s future.

On Alvarez’s side, the player is reportedly eager to make the move to Barcelona. According to sources, he has conveyed his desire to join the Catalan outfit through his agent, Fernando Hidalgo, who has already engaged in discussions with Barcelona representatives about a possible transfer.

Atletico Madrid, however, are in a very strong negotiating position. Alvarez’s current contract runs until 2030, and the presence of a €500 million release clause ensures that the club retains complete control over his future.

This means Atletico are under no obligation to negotiate unless they choose to. Still, the combination of Barcelona’s formal offer and Alvarez’s clear interest in the move suggests that this story is far from over and could continue to develop in the coming weeks.
