New Delhi, Business Bureau. If you also have Indane, HP or Bharat Gas LPG cylinder in your house, then it is very important for you to know the new rules implemented from June 1, 2026. The government has made some stringent and major changes regarding LPG gas connections and its delivery in the country. For the last few days, many rumors and misleading news were being spread on social media regarding the difference in cylinder booking days, on which the government has now clarified the situation and issued guidelines regarding the actual rules. Let us know which rules have changed and due to which negligence your existing gas connection can be blocked forever. There is no change in the rules of re-booking, do not pay attention to rumors on social media. First of all, it is important for crores of LPG consumers of the country to know the truth of a big rumor going on on social media. It was being falsely claimed at many places on the internet that the government was going to change the gap of booking days between two cylinders (like a gap of 25 or 35 days). On this, the Union Petroleum Ministry has completely clarified that there has been no change in the rules for refilling and re-booking of domestic LPG cylinders. In rural (village) areas, the rule of 25 days for re-booking between two cylinders will remain applicable as before. At the same time, the old rule of 45 days fixed for urban areas will continue. So don’t trust any rumour. If you are in PNG area, the current LPG connection will be disconnected, the deadline has ended. If you live in an area where the facility of piped cooking gas (PNG) has been made available by the government and you are still using the cylinder, then it can be a big problem for you. According to the order issued by the government in March, it was mandatory for consumers in areas with PNG facility to shift to piped gas within 3 months, the deadline for which is ending this June. If you do not shift to PNG within the stipulated time, your old LPG cylinder connection will be automatically blocked or permanently disconnected. Strictness on ‘One Household, One Gas Connection’ policy will tighten the noose on black marketing. Government oil companies are now implementing the rule of ‘One Household, One Connection’ with full strictness across the country. Companies have started identifying such customers through databases across the country who are enjoying both LPG cylinder and piped PNG gas in the same house. Official messages are being sent by the companies to consumers with such double connections, asking them to surrender their old LPG connections immediately so that black marketing of gas can be completely stopped in the country. The new rule, which imposes a complete ban on new connections and cylinder refills for PNG customers, has been made extremely stringent to streamline the gas supply and overcome the shortage of LPG in the country. According to the new rules, consumers who already have an active PNG connection will no longer be able to get a new LPG cylinder connection from any government or private oil company in the country. Along with this, customers availing such dual benefits will not get the facility of refilling the cylinder from now on. A matter of relief: After PNG becomes operational, you will get full 30 days for surrender. Along with tightening the rules, the government has also given a practical relief for the convenience of the general public. According to the new amendment, as soon as the meter and supply of piped natural gas (PNG) is operational in your house, you will be given full 30 days to close and surrender your old LPG cylinder connection. The good thing is that if you ever change your house in future or you need to, you will be able to get this LPG connection reactivated again. Gas cylinder will not be available without OTP, digital and online booking will be promoted. To make the game of gas theft and delivery completely transparent, the government has now made OTP based delivery system completely mandatory. From today, whenever the LPG delivery boy brings the cylinder to your home, a security code (OTP) will be sent to your registered mobile number. The cylinder will be handed over to you only after showing that code to the delivery boy and entering it in the system. Along with this, to save consumers from long queues and visiting offices, the government is now essentially promoting digital and online booking through various apps and official websites.
