FC Bayern Munich have concluded the season on a high by securing the domestic double, and now attention is shifting towards the next major decision at the club. The management is keen to extend Harry Kane’s contract, and according to several indications, negotiations may progress rapidly in the coming days.
The club executives have been deliberating over the future of their prolific striker for several months. Kane, whose current contract runs until 2027, has become one of Bayern’s most prominent figures. Following an extraordinary season in which he netted 61 goals in 51 competitive matches, there is no doubt at Säbener Straße that both sides wish to continue their partnership for the long term.
Until now, the England captain has intentionally avoided rushing into discussions, preferring to focus entirely on his performances for Bayern Munich. However, after lifting both the DFB Cup and completing the double, that approach might soon change.
As reported by BILD’s head of football, Christian Falk, Kane had initially aimed to finish the DFB Cup final against VfB Stuttgart before turning his attention to his contractual future.
Interestingly, Kane’s father and brother – who serve as his closest advisers – were present at the final in Berlin. Their attendance suggests that all necessary conditions are now in place for negotiations to gather pace.
At this point, there are no indications of significant disagreements between the two parties. Both have repeatedly expressed mutual satisfaction over recent months. Kane himself has publicly stated on several occasions that he feels extremely comfortable at Bayern Munich.
Above all, the duration of the new contract appears to be the main topic under discussion.
Reports suggest that club officials are evaluating two possible scenarios. One plan involves a direct contract extension through 2029. The alternative would see a one-year extension, with an additional option for a further season.
The second model would offer Bayern greater long-term flexibility, while Kane would likely prioritise the security that comes with a longer commitment.
It remains uncertain whether an agreement will be finalised before the start of the World Cup, but according to Falk, this possibility cannot be ruled out.
Munich’s management would be pleased to reach an early agreement – partly to establish clarity ahead of the new season, and partly to send a strong message to both the squad and the public before the global tournament begins.
Kane has made it clear that he feels no urgency and prefers to conduct the discussions in a calm and measured manner. The 32-year-old also underlined that both parties are “very happy with each other.”
Given the current circumstances, all signs point towards a continued collaboration. Following their domestic double, Bayern Munich could soon celebrate another major achievement – this time off the pitch.
