Carlos Queiroz has officially announced the 26-man Ghana national team squad that will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The official Ghana squad for the 2026 World Cup has been revealed, with coach Carlos Queiroz combining promising young talents and experienced veterans.

Queiroz formally unveiled the final squad list for the world’s biggest football tournament, the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The announcement was made through the national team’s official website and social media channels on Tuesday (June 2, 2026) local time.

The release of the official lineup immediately captured the attention of Black Stars supporters, as it contained several surprising selections.

The Portuguese coach made a bold move by omitting star player Mohammed Kudus from the list.

This crucial decision was taken because Kudus was deemed unfit for the demanding tournament due to his physical condition.

Kudus has been suffering from a hamstring injury that will sideline him until the end of June 2026.

Defender Alexander Djiku has also been ruled out with a similar hamstring injury and will not recover in time for the tournament.

To fill the gap in defence, Carlos Queiroz quickly called up experienced defender Derrick Luckassen.

Despite losing several key players, the Black Stars still boast a strong and balanced mix of youth and experience.

Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo is expected to lead Ghana’s attack after an impressive season at club level.

Semenyo recorded 21 goals and 6 assists in 48 competitive matches across all competitions, with 11 of those goals coming in the English Premier League.

Queiroz has also included several senior players in the squad for the 2026 World Cup.

Team captain Jordan Ayew returns to lead his teammates, bringing a wealth of international experience.

Veteran midfielder Thomas Partey’s presence in the middle of the park is expected to provide stability and composure throughout the tournament.

In addition, Ghana’s attacking force will be strengthened by Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams, who brings both quality and experience to the front line.

Interestingly, Carlos Queiroz has also handed a golden opportunity to several young talents to make their debut on the global stage.

Rising stars such as Ernest Nuamah and Brandon Thomas-Asante are ready to showcase their best performances on North American soil.

In goal, Lawrence Ati-Zigi is widely predicted to be the first-choice goalkeeper for Ghana during the tournament.

Overall, the coach has built a highly competitive team structure as he aims to restore Ghana’s football glory on the international stage.

In the previous edition four years ago, the Black Stars were eliminated in the group stage.

For the 2026 World Cup, Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama.

Before heading to North America, Ghana will play a warm-up match against Wales at Cardiff Stadium on Wednesday (June 3, 2026) at 01:45 WIB.
