Former Inter Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi has reportedly completed a permanent transfer to Parma, after the Serie A club exercised their buy option valued at just under $5 million. The American midfielder made nine appearances for the Italian outfit before a meniscus injury in March prematurely ended his season. His full-time exit now appears to grant Inter Miami additional roster flexibility.
Securing a bargain deal
Following weeks of speculation, Cremaschi’s stay in Italy has now been made permanent, with Parma activating the €4 million clause to convert his loan move—initially agreed in September 2025—into a full transfer. A product of Inter Miami’s academy, Cremaschi was honoured as the U.S. Young Player of the Year last season and already boasts three senior international caps.
The development was first revealed by journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Early struggles with Parma
Cremaschi’s time in Italy has so far offered limited chances to make a lasting impression in a Parma shirt. After his move coincided with Inter Miami signing Argentine midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, the American found it difficult to establish consistency and maintain fitness. He debuted in October but featured only sporadically before the knee injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.
Pushing for an exit from Miami
The midfielder’s return to Inter Miami always appeared improbable after his outspoken criticism of then-head coach Javier Mascherano’s tactical approach. Although naturally a central midfielder, Cremaschi was deployed in several different roles and saw reduced playing time—something he made no secret of.
“I’m frustrated, I want to play,” Cremaschi said last August. “I think the most important thing for me is to be at a very high level, and to get there, I need minutes and experience. I’ve played very little in these recent games, and I don’t think it’s because of my level.”
Shortly after those comments, Inter Miami arranged his loan move to Parma.
Fresh room for Miami’s transfer plans
Cremaschi’s permanent transfer could prove beneficial for the Herons as they look to reshape their squad. The club has been linked with former Manchester United midfielder Casemiro, who is currently unattached. With one fewer midfielder on the books and an open roster slot, Inter Miami could be preparing to pursue another marquee signing.
