In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, young players dominated among the giants. While 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi was the batsman who scored the most runs (776) this season, Rasikh Salam Dar, Prince Yadav and Kartik Tyagi wreaked havoc with the ball. Rasikh played an important role in helping Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) win the title for the second consecutive time by taking 19 wickets in 12 matches.
Prince Yadav took 16 wickets in 14 matches for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). He made headlines for his pace and precise line-length. He also got a place in Team India during IPL 2026. 25 year old Karthik Tyagi was the most successful bowler of Kolkata Knight Riders. He took 18 wickets in 14 matches. Interestingly, Prince and Karthik received only Rs 30 lakh each from their franchises for this season. There were some players who got paid in crores but spent the entire season on the bench. Take a look at those 4 crorepati players, who did not get a chance to play a single match in IPL 2026.
- Mangesh Yadav – This pace bowling all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh was bought by RCB for Rs 5.2 crore in the mini auction held at the end of last year. Mangesh, a left-arm fast bowler and adept at swinging the bat in the lower order, shone in the MP T20 League. He was chosen the Emerging Player of this league last year. RCB captain Rajat Patidar was quite impressed with his death bowling, after which the franchise made a big bid for him. Although Mangesh never got a chance to take the field
- Mitchell Owen – During the last IPL season, Punjab Kings (PBKS) signed his compatriot batting all-rounder for Rs 3 crore as an immediate replacement for Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Mitchell was given a chance to make his IPL debut by PBKS last year, in which he could not even open his account. Despite this the franchise retained him. Despite expressing confidence in Mitchell, PBKS did not include him in the playing XI this season.
- Kwena Mafaka – This young South African fast bowler was included in their team by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 1.5 crore in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Last season, Mafaka got to play 2 matches, in which he got only 1 success. Investing in Mafaka, RR retained him for this season but he was never fielded.
- Naman Tiwari – This left-arm fast bowler, who made a splash in the Under-19 World Cup 2024, was bought by LSG for Rs 1 crore in the auction last year. IPL 2026 was a big opportunity for Naman, who is capable of consistently bowling at a speed of 145 km per hour but he did not get a single game.
