TRIBUNPAPUA.COM, NABIRE – The fever of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has truly spread across Indonesia, reaching even the remote corners of Central Papua, including Nabire.
The world’s most prestigious football tournament will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, running from June 12 to July 20, 2026.
For millions of football lovers around the globe, this event marks a crucial proving ground for Brazil, the national team that holds five World Cup titles.
In this edition, the Selecao will begin their campaign in Group C. The star-studded squad is set to face tough challenges from Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland.
Although their group-stage opponents each bring unique playing styles that could pose difficulties, Brazil remains the top favourite to advance smoothly to the knockout rounds.
It’s no surprise that Brazil is so highly rated. This year, the Samba team arrives with a formidable lineup that blends seasoned veterans with rising young talents.
A host of big names are ready to give their all on the pitch — from goalkeeper Alisson Becker, defensive rock Marquinhos, midfield general Casemiro, to the lethal attacking line featuring Vinicius Jr, Gabriel Martinelli, wonderkid Endrick, and the iconic superstar Neymar Jr.
The presence of such elite players across every line makes Brazil one of the most feared sides in the tournament.
This wave of enthusiasm and passionate support is felt deeply by Rusen Tabuni, a loyal fan of the Samba team from Nabire.
For Rusen, his deep affection for Brazil’s iconic yellow-and-green jersey has been ingrained since their glorious triumph at the 2002 World Cup.
“From that moment, Brazil has always been in my heart,” Rusen said in an interview with TribunPapuaTengah.com on Tuesday (June 2, 2026).
Highlighting Neymar’s Magical Aura
Looking ahead to the 2026 competition, Rusen expressed strong confidence that this year’s Brazilian squad possesses a powerful champion mentality.
He specifically highlighted the central role of Neymar Jr.
The number 10 is expected to once again become the team’s main attacking engine and a nightmare for opposing defenders.
“Neymar’s presence will be a huge source of motivation for the team, and just hearing his name will strike fear into their opponents,” Rusen stated enthusiastically.
Considering the squad’s depth and the individual quality of the players under Brazil’s current coach, Rusen is absolutely convinced that his favourite team will go far beyond the group stage. The highest ambition echoes from the eastern part of Indonesia.
“I’m very sure that the Brazilian national team will keep advancing and make it all the way to the final,” he concluded with optimism.
