Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell has been included in the U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) camp as an injury replacement for Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce ahead of two June friendlies against Brazil. Tullis-Joyce was ruled out following an injury sustained during the World Sevens Football tournament in London, paving the way for Campbell’s return to the national setup.
Campbell earns another opportunity
Campbell is a familiar face within the USWNT environment, having participated in multiple camps and major international tournaments over the years.
The Houston Dash shot-stopper has earned 10 senior caps and was part of the Olympic rosters in both 2020 and 2024. She was last involved with the national team during the April training camp but did not feature in any of the matches at the SheBelieves Cup.
Now, Campbell finds herself back in contention once again.
U.S. Soccer confirmed that Campbell has been brought in to replace Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who picked up an injury in London. The timing is unfortunate for Tullis-Joyce, as the Manchester United keeper was looking to strengthen her case in an increasingly competitive goalkeeping group within the USWNT.
Impact on the goalkeeping competition
The injury sidelines Tullis-Joyce for a crucial stretch, but it gives Campbell another shot to impress and possibly earn minutes during the upcoming friendlies.
Campbell will join Claudia Dickey and Mandy McGlynn as the three goalkeepers in the current roster. Both Dickey and Campbell have 10 caps each for the national team, while McGlynn has five caps, offering head coach Emma Hayes multiple options to assess as she continues evaluating her goalkeeping depth.
‘Jane, what an amazing human being she is’
When announcing her 26-player squad for the Brazil friendlies, USWNT head coach Emma Hayes was asked about the goalkeeping selections and Campbell’s initial omission.
“Jane, what an amazing human being she is,” Hayes said. “I know how deeply she cares about representing the national team and how much she wants to keep competing — and she absolutely is.”
This latest call-up gives Campbell another chance to demonstrate exactly that.
What’s next?
Campbell and the rest of the USWNT squad will assemble for the June camp ahead of their two friendlies against Brazil — the first scheduled for June 6 and the second on June 9.
