Manchester United have officially appointed Michael Carrick as their permanent manager and are now fully focused on the summer transfer window.
After taking charge in January, Carrick guided United to a Champions League qualification spot and was rewarded with the permanent managerial role. That achievement, along with the need to strengthen squad depth, means United are expected to be busy in the upcoming summer transfer market.
Below is a comprehensive look at all of Manchester United’s confirmed signings, departures, and loans during the 2026 summer window.
Player: Casemiro
To: TBC (Released)
Fee: Free
Position: Midfielder
Age: 34
Four years after his high-profile transfer from Real Madrid, Casemiro’s time at Old Trafford has come to an end. The Brazilian midfielder rediscovered his form in his final season for the Red Devils, and though the club had the option to extend his contract for another year, a mutual decision was made in January for him to depart at the end of the campaign.
“Manchester will forever be my home,” he shared on social media. “To the city, the club, and every supporter, my sincerest thank you. These past four years have been unforgettable.”
Casemiro leaves United with 160 appearances to his name, having lifted the 2022–23 EFL Cup and the 2023–24 FA Cup. His next destination remains undecided.
Player: Tyrell Malacia
To: TBC (Released)
Fee: Free
Position: Left-back
Age: 26
Signed as the first addition under Erik ten Hag’s management, Malacia made only 50 appearances in four seasons at the club. The Dutch defender shared a farewell message after his final game, saying, “It’s been an honour to wear this shirt. Wishing the club all the best for the future.”
After spending the second half of the 2024–25 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, Malacia now becomes a free agent as he looks for his next opportunity.
Player: Rasmus Hojlund
To: Napoli
Fee: £44 million
Position: Striker
Age: 23
Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Napoli has been made permanent following a successful loan spell during the 2025–26 season. The Danish striker, who netted 14 Premier League goals across two seasons for United, managed 12 goals in Serie A while on loan with Napoli.
A clause in the agreement ensured the transfer would become permanent if Napoli secured Champions League qualification — a target they achieved.
“My childhood dream came true by playing at Old Trafford in a red jersey,” Hojlund wrote on social media. “Thank you to all the fans, players, and staff of Manchester United who made the dream I had as a kid come true. It’s time for new dreams, so let’s chase them.”
With Casemiro departing, United are expected to turn their attention to midfield reinforcements, potentially looking to bring in at least two new signings in that area.
Reported targets include Ederson from Atalanta and Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United. However, players like Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson may prove difficult to acquire due to valuation concerns.
Meanwhile, the club is awaiting news on Marcus Rashford’s future following his loan spell at Barcelona. Interestingly, Carrick may also consider strengthening the left-wing position — Rashford’s usual role — to better suit his preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
Reinforcements at left-back are also being considered despite Luke Shaw managing to feature in every league match this past season.
Additionally, club captain Bruno Fernandes is entering the final year of his contract, similar to Shaw, meaning both players’ futures could soon be subjects of negotiation.
