New Delhi. Amid the ongoing controversy over the on-screen marking system of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the Modi government has transferred CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta. Along with this, an inquiry committee has also been constituted to investigate irregularities in the procurement of On-Screen Marking (OSM) services. This inquiry committee will investigate the flaws in the tender and allotment of OSM services. Capacity Building Commission (CBC) chairperson S. Radha Chauhan has been given the command of this investigation committee. Keeping in mind the interest of the students, the government has taken this decision.

Large scale irregularities have come to light in CBSE’s on-screen marking system. Actually, this system was implemented to check the copies through digital medium without any discrimination, but after the results were declared, many students complained that their marks were not as expected. Despite the paper being good, the marks were less. CBSE had recently admitted to the mistake in the evaluation and uploading of the copy of the Physics exam of a student named Vedant Srivastava. Actually, Vedanta had applied for re-evaluation of its Physics copy of CBSE exam. CBSE then sent the scan of the Physics copy to Vedanta. After which Vedant said that this copy is not his.

Vedanta raised the issue of different handwriting in its English and Computer Science copies and Physics copies. This matter gained a lot of attention. Earlier, there was a lot of controversy regarding the re-evaluation portal of CBSE. Earlier this portal was to open on 29th May, the date of which was extended to 1st June but it did not open even on that day. Today, after a lot of effort, when the application process started on the portal, CBSE claimed that there was a cyber attack on the portal.
